Despite NBA Legacy, Gilbert Arenas Sends Son to Chatsworth High Instead of Trinity

Following in His Father's Footsteps

Alijah Arenas, son of former NBA star Gilbert Arenas, has committed to Chatsworth High School, despite his father's alma mater, Trinity Christian School, being a basketball powerhouse.

Alijah, a 6'5" five-star prospect, is considered one of the top five players in the 2026 class and is known for his lethal scoring ability, much like his father.

Gilbert Arenas' Legacy

Gilbert Arenas was a three-time NBA All-Star and All-NBA Team selection during his 12-year career.

Known for his exceptional shooting and flashy style of play, Arenas averaged 20.7 points per game and led the league in free throw percentage in 2006.

Trinity Christian School: A Basketball Powerhouse

Trinity Christian School, located in Durham, North Carolina, is renowned for its basketball program.

The school has produced numerous Division I and NBA players, including Jahlil Okafor, Josh Smith, and Mike Dunleavy Jr.

Chatsworth High School: A Rising Star

Chatsworth High School, located in Chatsworth, California, has a growing basketball program.

In recent years, Chatsworth has sent several players to Division I colleges, including Shareef O'Neal and Quincy Guerrier.

Reasons for Alijah's Decision

The reasons behind Alijah's decision to attend Chatsworth over Trinity are not entirely clear.

However, it is possible that Alijah wanted to forge his own path outside of his father's shadow and at a school that may provide him with more playing time.
