Reigning MotoGP champion Francesco Bagnaia extended his championship lead with a dominant victory at the Circuit of the Americas (COTA) in Austin, Texas. The Italian rider led from start to finish, crossing the line over four seconds clear of his nearest rival.

Bagnaia's victory was his third of the season, and it moves him 23 points clear of reigning world champion Fabio Quartararo in the standings. Quartararo finished second at COTA, ahead of Enea Bastianini in third.

The race was also notable for the performance of rookie rider Marc Marquez, who finished fifth after starting from 12th on the grid. The Spaniard is still recovering from a shoulder injury, but he showed glimpses of his old form at COTA.

The MotoGP World Championship continues next weekend with the Spanish Grand Prix at Jerez. Bagnaia will be aiming to extend his championship lead, while Quartararo will be looking to close the gap.
